North Hills win first WPIAL baseball title with extra-inning win against Mars
Joey Pusateri will major in film and television when he begins college at DePaul University in Chicago this fall. If Pusateri is searching for a movie idea, all he will have to do is look back on a warm, late-May evening his senior season. It was the night his hit gave his school its first WPIAL championship. With one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning, Pusateri — who had only five hits all season — lined a 3-2 pitch to right-center field that scored Ta

North Hills, Mars to meet in WPIAL Class 5A baseball final
It was the era of bell-bottomed pants and 45-cent per gallon gasoline.
It was 1974 — the last time North Hills made the WPIAL baseball finals.
It was so long ago that West View Park was still around.
But North Hills is headed to Washington's Wild Things Park Wednesday for the Class 5A finals against Mars at 5 p.m.
The Indians (19-3) qualified for the championship game with an 11-4 victory over West Allegheny Thursday night in the semifinals.

North Hills’ 7-1 win ends drought
Every player on North Hills’ roster knew the stakes entering the playoff game Tuesday against Franklin Regional. Blame social media, coach Randy Miller said after the game. It had been 11 years since the Indians previously won a playoff game. But thanks to a burst of runs in the first inning, in addition to a strong game on the mound by senior pitcher Joey Pusateri, North Hills now can wave goodbye to that drought. North Hills scored four runs in the opening inning and cruis

North Hills punches ticket to WPIAL baseball 5A championship game
It was a long wait, 44 years in fact, since North Hills last made it to the WPIAL baseball semifinals back in 1974. The Indians didn't wait long at all to cement their spot in the title game. North Hills scored early, poured on the runs late and defeated West Allegheny, 11-4, in a WPIAL Class 5A semifinal at North Allegheny. North Hills will take on Mars in the title game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Wild Things Park. “Were not done yet,” said North Hills coach Randy Miller. “This

Hot bats lead North Hills into baseball playoffs
Heading into this year's varsity baseball season, North Hills returned a roster that featured a wealth of experience, including 11 seniors and three juniors. A noticeable majority of that experience was coming back to pitch for the Indians. And for coach Randy Miller, he said the stable of steady arms led him to expect his ball club to squeak out some low-scoring contests. “Going into spring training, hitting was kind of a question mark for us. The one think I knew we had com
