North Hills tops TJ in back-and-forth affair, 11-6
The North Hills Indians Varsity took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Thomas Jefferson , securing a 11-6 victory on Thursday.
The North Hills Indians Varsity took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. The North Hills Indians Varsity scored on an RBI single by Luke Chutko off Logue, bringing home Brendan Burke.
Burke racked up three RBIs on three hits for the North Hills Indians Varsity. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.
Thomas Jefferson couldn't get anything going so long as Anthony Ruggieriwas on the hill. Ruggieri held Thomas Jefferson hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Nick Leise got the win in relief for the North Hills Indians Varsity. Leise pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed no runs.
Logue was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
The top of the first saw the North Hills Indians Varsity take an early lead, 2-0. Burke tripled, plating Ruggieri after a single by Ruggieri got things started. The North Hills Indians Varsity then tacked on more runs when Burke scored on a groundout by Brian Farabaugh.
It didn't take long for Thomas Jefferson to respond as it scored two runs of its own in the first. Thomas Jefferson scored on a two-run error.
