Chutko one for ages

Luke Chutko might not look the part of the supreme athlete. He is only 5 feet 9 and has a little extra cushion in the midsection. But at North Hills, Chutko has the look of a one-of-a-kind athlete.

Chutko is the first in North Hills history to start on playoff teams in either football/soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring. North Hills opened in 1959.

Chutko, a junior, was a defender in soccer, a guard in basketball and a catcher in baseball. He has started in all three sports since his sophomore season.

The number of three-sport athletes, especially at Class AAA and AAAA schools, is dwindling. Starting – not just participating – on three playoff teams has certainly happened at other schools. But it’s not as common as one might think – and quite the impressive feat from Chutko.
